Today @ 5:31 pm Conner will be 2 years old. Can we say C-R-A-Z-Y!!! Seriously? he's already 2? Where did the time go? I remember like it was yesterday that he was born.
For those of you who do not know my labor story, here it is.
I had gone in for my 38 week check up(I was actually 38 weeks and 1 day) And my dr. wasn't going to check me, but I asked her too, and so she did. (Oh, FYI I had been dialated to 4 and 100% ephaced 4 weeks prior to THIS day) and when she checked me she asked me if I had any plans for the weekend. I told her no. She said "good, cuz your having this baby this weekend.""I can see his head right now." Holy Cow. was basically my reaction. She then asked if I wanted her to strip my membranes. "Sure" I told her. Then as soon as she was done with that she asked me if I was cramping. I told her no, then she said, "Oh, dont worry, you will be soon." So I left my dr's appt and as SOON as I got home. 10 min later, I started having contractions. They were painful but not excruciating at this time. So I took it easy for the most part-(Besides moving Cotin's dresser into his room) then they started getting more painful and more frequent, so I decided to take a warm bath. That only made it worse. As soon as I got in the bath my contractions were every 1 minute for 2 minutes. I quickly got out and got dressed and told Bo that we needed to le ave NOW. We dropped Coltin off at my parents house. Got to the hospital at 430 so when we got there we told them that I was in labor and my contractions were every minute for two minutes or closer. They then responed. "Well all of our labor and delivery rooms are full, so we need you to go out in the waiting room. (Remember I was dialted to 4 earlier that same morning) Bo was wigging out. I went to get "registered" and then the nurse came in the room and said"I'm going to go with my huntch on this one and put you in our 'emergency only' delivery room." She then had to check me to make sure. At this point I was at a 6-7 and already 100 % ephaced. They then got me in my room and I told them that I wanted an epidural right now and they wouldnt let me get one coz I hadnt yet had a bag of iv fluid in me. (So they gave me that and put one of those blood pressure thingamabobbers on the bag of fluid to make it get in me faster. So by the time that was completley in me I was dialted to a 9.5. I told them to get me an epidural and they kept telling me that its not worth it and that it wont work. I didnt care I was in sooo much pain. So the anethesiologist came in and gave me my epidural and as soon as he walked out of the room I yelled, "I HAVE TO PUSH!!!" one of my nurses said, just hold it. I CANT I HAVE TO PUSH!! I kept screaming. "The dr's not here yet." (Oh well in that case let me just push this baby back up inside of me so I can wait for the dr) NOT!! So, my dr was on her way on the freeway and the "on call" doc. was in another delivery at the time and one of my nurses had only been on the job for 2 weeks. So the "lead" nurse no joke had to delivery Conner.
He was born at 5:31 pm. Remember I got to the hospital at 430.? It was a crazy hour. So the epidural didnt have time to work. Much better recovery though. ( When I was pushing,-afterwards Bo told me that he had never heard anyone scream that loud in his entire life) it was THAT bad. I have the screaming on video, I'll try later to see if I can get it to work. Conner was 7 lbs 9oz and 21 1/2 in long. Aunt Cadie was the first one to hold him and then when he was on the table onder the heat lamps he had his first poo. It was gross.
Then after a few hours my mom comes back in the room (from calling ALL the family ) she tells me that my cousin Keri just had her baby too. LILLY was born around 715 (i think) that same evening. I thought that was cool cuz her 2nd is also only 2 days younger than Coltin and then her 3rd and my 2nd are born on the same day.
