Update on Conner

(Thanks Amy- I had totally forgotten to tell everyone the news on Conner)
So, Conner does need speech therapy. The evaluationist(?) said his case is not that bad. She has seen worse. She noticed(as have I) a few things. 1. That he speaks in only one word increments(or sentences, if you can even call them that) When he wants something, he'll say... milk, help, more, please, etc. He doesnt say more milk, help please, or anything like that.
2. That he can pronouce the syllables that he should(for his age and even some that are more advanced) but he doesn't pronounce the last letter or sound of the word. For example, when he wants milk he says, mil. when he says please, it comes out pees. Sheep=shee, pig=pi, etc. get the pic? She did say that the "sh" sound usually doesnt come till later. So he is advanced on that. My favorite that he says is "Go Go Ging" = Burger King. He can point them out from a mile away too. hehe. ( I love burger king)
So the evaluationist is submitting his paperwork to the insurance and to a speech therapist and we'll take it from there.
When I have alone time with him I am supposed to be helping him talk in 2-3 word sentences. ex. milk= I want milk, or milk please.
I am also supposed to be joining some kind of playgroup or whatnot with kids his age and let him interact with them so he can learn from them as well. I also need to be singing nursery rhyme songs with him and reading a lot more to him.
I guess I just got lazy. With Coltin we would read every night, he knew every song there is out there and what not, and I dont do that nearly as much with Conner.
So I am going to be doing that. A lot more.

Thanks so much. I wanted to do a nursery in black and white, but now that or room is I figured it would be overkill of black and white themes. The rug is a throw rug, underneath it is plain ol' beige carpet.

You're such a good mommy, I am sure with your help Conner will catch up quickly! Still cannot wait to meet these darling boys!

If you need a speech therapist I can recomend a good place for him to go. Unfortuantly, speech is hard to come by. I was on a waiting list in every place in the east valley for a year before we finally got in.
